Restaurant Review食评 :- The Magpie鹊, Whitby惠特比, North Yorkshire北约克郡

We took a day trip to Whitby and decided to try some fish and chips at 'The Magpie' Cafe.

The Magpie Cafe has a terrific view of the Whitby Harbour area and the bridge and at weekends is very busy.

Even on a wednesday afternoon at 5pm - it was quite busy, luckily we found a table for two upstairs.

Our waitress promptly served us - we ordered yorkshire tea, a small and a regular Haddock and chips, and mushy pea.

When the food arrived we wish we had shared a fish and Chips between two - as it was too much to finish it.

The tartar sauce was delicious and the chips were very substantial.

The inside of the restaurant celebrates the local celebrated explorer 'Captain James Cook' and had a nautical feel to it.

The Bill of £25 was ok value when you consider the quantity but the location is a prime tourist site.

A walk on the beach and next to the River Esk always helps the digestion!

We walked around beautiful Whitby town and its beautiful shops selling the local 'Whitby Jet' jewellery.

We spent all the day sightseeing in beautiful Cambridge - a delightful college town in Eastern England. 60 miles North of London.

We felt hungry at 8pm and it was still light so we found a gem of a restaurant called 'La Margherita' on Magdalene Street.

The waiter was friendly and really well organised. Service was quick and he was considerate enough to warn us that the plates were extra hot!

The ambient intellectual atmosphere was splendid.

We ordered the following :-

Cannelloni con Ricotta(rolls of Pasta filled with Spinach and Ricotta Cheese with a tomato and bechamel sauce) £10.05

Pizza Sillician (Pizza topped with Tomato, Buffalo Mozzarella, capers, olives and aubergines) £9.60
This was the best pizza I have ever tasted in my life!

The bill was very reasonable - less than £20 - great value.

Restaurant Review:- Graveleys Fish and Chips, Whitby, UK

A cold day in England offers no better opportunity to visit a traditional fish and chip chop, something British people seem particularly indulgent at.

What do Sydney and Whitby have in Common?
Captain James Cook of course! A son of Whitby, North Yorkshire.

We visited a lovely fish and chip restaurant called 'Graveleys' in the center of the delightful town.
Now this is not the healthiest meal - but the fish was fresh and the mushy peas - were different to what we were used to.

We could look out at Whitby harbour and were warm and looked out at two locals playing in the sea - fully clothed in 9 degree weather. Yes they are tough and weather beaten people in Whitby!!
The waiting staff were friendly and we arrived at 2pm so it was very quiet.

The cups of tea revived us and we walked around the town to work off the stodgy food!
We didn't indulge in the Cakes. Next time maybe!! If we are ever back in Whitby!
Treacle sponge or Bread and butter pudding. How English!
We highly recommend this place for a refuge from the temperamental English Weather!

Enjoy walking around the lovely quaint old shops in Whitby!

Cafe Review:- Rosso Vivo, Jalan Pantai, Kuta, Bali

The Rosso Vivo is located just across from the Beach in Bali and so is a perfect place to rendezvous with friends in the shade with some cooling drinks or cocktails.
As you can see they have a large selection of non-alcoholic drinks and of cocktails depending what you feel like when you visit. You can sit by the busy Jalan Pantai road and people watch and also view the pleasant swimming pool next to the Cafe/Restaurant.
The swimming pool is pleasant and guests like to take a dip here or sunbathe. It is a nice location.
There is a large selection of Coffees and Teas at Rosso Vivo. The staff are very attentive and polite.
It is a great place - just to relax and chat.

We had 2 x Bali Coffees at 22000 rp each.
We highly recommend this place as a refreshment point close to Kuta Beach.

Restaurant Review :- Kori, Poppies Gang II, Kuta, Bali

The Kori Restaurant is an oasis of tranquility on the busy thoroughfare called Poppies Gang II in Kuta, Bali.

When you enter the beautiful restaurant - you appreciate the warm welcome from the friendly staff and the lovely stream full of fish encircling the restaurant.

We    were enticed by the culinary offerings on the menu which  were both plentiful and delightful. We  arrived  for a Christmas Eve meal with my family and we appreciated the  memory of a special meal.
Before  we began our meal we had a pineapple juice (30,000 rp) and a Crushed Ice Guava Juice (25,000 rp) and a Java Black Tea (15,000 rp).
We sat by the idyllic bar area and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere.
One of our party ordered a 'special' Satay dish - which was very tasty and so very well presented.  It really wetted the appetite for a night of celebrating Christmas.
We also ordered the Nasi Goreng which was certainly a cut above most of the standard 'Nasi Goreng' dishes which are not in the same league.
I had the Beef Massaman Curry which had a spicy kick to it and was very filling.
We would recommend this restaurant to anyone. The service is top class. The food is excellent and it was utterly faultless when we visited it. It is not particular cheap but knocks spots off any similar indonesian restaurant in Singapore. Enjoy it - but you may need to book in advance - especially in peak season!

Restaurant Review :- Kunyit Bali Restaurant, Jalan Kartika Plasa, Bali, Indonesia

We were staying at the 'Febri's Hotel' in South Kuta so the 'Kunyit Bali' restaurant was ideally located for us. Literally It was just a short walk away.

We arrived at 3pm for a short snack and we really liked the menu so we went there.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful and were so very attentive and nice that we felt very 'special'.

The restaurant is really very nice and our table was very comfortable. The only downside was there were a lot of mosquitos near the restaurant so make sure you spray the deet on yourself.

We ordered the 'Nasi Bali Campur' Dish and it was very tasty. It had a nice mix of green vegetables, rice, Satay and soup.

I would order this again as it really hit the spot.

Personally I prefer Bali Hai Beer to Bintang Beer.

Bintang Beer is everywhere in Bali and not so many places sell Bali Hai. Bali Hai Beer has a smoother taste and is perfect to drink with a meal.

Bali Hai is produced on Java not on Bali.

Bintang Beer is owned by Heineken - and tastes essentially the same - with a sharp aftertaste.

The meal was very reasonably priced. With the 'Nasi Bali Campur' costing less than 10 singapore dollars.
We would recommend this ambient and delightful restuarant.
We would give this 9 out of 10 for polite and helpful staff.
The food would get 6/10.
7.5/10 would be our rating.
Don't eat the ginger - it is just for Decoration!!
